My family of four (which includes two teenagers) all love fresh pineapple. I have always cut it by hand, but I hate picking out the remaining "eyes," which is one thing I love about this corer/slicer - no remaining "eyes!" It helps to have a pineapple which stands very level on its own, so check that out before bringing it home. Also, I am not very tall, and it works better for me to actually rotate the pineapple itself as I cut it rather than rotating the tool. I just recently purchased this tool so have only used it a few times, but one of the complaints I read a few times was that the handle broke. I wonder if over time, twisting the pineapple instead of the tool will help extend the life of the handle???
Also, the instructions do not say if one is to cut the core all the way through the shell or try to leave a "cap" on the bottom if one intends to use the shell. I have tried it both ways, and found it easier to cut all the way through and will just place the shell on a serving dish to catch any juice. When I tried leaving a cap on the bottom, is was hard to tell when to stop cutting, and the core was left attached to the bottom cap, making it difficult to remove.
Very quick and easy to use. Bottom line, it is well worth the money and I would highly recommend it. Wish I had purchased it a long time ago, but thankful I have it now!
